The HiFiBerry AMP4 is a DAC / amplifier module designed to work with the RaspBerry Pi. It features a TI TAS5756M chip. This chip is a stereo amplifier integrating a Burr-Brown DAC. It delivers up to 2x 30W of power and supports 44.1-192kHz (16-32bit) streams. This amplifier module works equally well with 4 ohm or 8 ohm speakers.
We recommend powering this module with a voltage between 12V and 20V for use with a 4 ohm load, and 12V to 24V for an 8 ohm load. The HifiBerry AMP4 is capable of powering the Raspberry PI, so an additional 5V supply is not required. However, it is not designed to power USB peripherals or other hardware that would require too much power and risk making the system unstable.
Finally, if you wish, this module can be used with HifiBerry's ADD-ON BOARD DSP to enable advanced digital signal processing possibilities. You can also bridge the outputs of both AMP4 channels.
If the software you're using doesn't provide AMP4 as an output option, you'll need to use the HiFiBerry DAC+ driver.

A single power supply is sufficient to power both the Raspberry Pi and the AMP4, directly via the latter.
