Fiio FT1: 60mm dynamic drivers
The FT1 is equipped with 60mm-diameter dynamic drivers with nanofibre wood composite diaphragms. This material is created by carefully selecting paper made from Northern European spruce. Once the paper has been selected, it undergoes a process of soaking, cooking and mixing to create a specific pulp. To achieve the required acoustic standards, carbon fibre is added to the mix. Finally, the mixture is baked one last time and then shaped into its final 0.1mm thick form. The FT1's large drivers deliver deep, powerful bass and excellent dynamics.
Fiio FT1: Polyurethane suspension
A polyurethane suspension is added to the diaphragm to provide optimum performance. This combination gives the FT1 excellent high-frequency extension, a precise sound and a clear overall timbre. Furthermore, the suspension and diaphragm have been designed together to provide a large surface area for vibration. Compared with other drivers of a similar diameter, the combination developed by Fiio for its headphones provides an average of 25.8% more vibrating surface area. This large surface area minimises vibration losses at the junction between the different materials, reducing distortion caused by the junction of materials between the membrane and the suspension.
Fiio FT1: 25mm CCAW voice coil
The FT1's voice coil has also received special attention. The voice coil is a 25mm diameter CCAW (Copper-Clad Aluminum Wire). Its large size ensures a much more efficient transient response, resulting in a clearer sound reproduction. Furthermore, the coil has been designed to be as light as possible, reducing the total mass of the diaphragm, improving the speed of response and minimising reverberation.
Fiio FT1: Wooden rear panels
The FT1 headphones have top-quality rear panels in black walnut (FAS graded wood). Furthermore, the density of the wood considerably reduces the effects of resonance, cutting short standing waves and the associated distortion.
Fiio FT1: Excellent insulation
To get the most out of your music, the FT1 incorporates a series of sound-absorbing elements to maximise the experience that closed-back headphones can offer. The combination of a U-shaped damping tube, a spiral resonance cavity and a cotton-covered walnut rear cavity for maximum sound absorption gives Fiio's FT1 headphones a sound insulation of -26dB from the outside world.
Fiio FT1: A headphone easy to drive
With the aim of being as flexible as possible, the FT1 has been designed with a low impedance of 32Ω and a high sensitivity of 113dB. As a result, the power required to drive these headphones remains low, allowing them to be adapted to a wide range of configurations without any loss of quality.
