Moondrop Discdream 2: Elegant design
The Discdream 2 features a clamshell design perfectly suited to portable devices, reducing the risk of damage when discs are inserted. The surface is painted after moulding, making it as pleasing to the eye as it is to the touch.
Moondrop Discdream 2: Solid servo architecture
The quality of a CD player is largely dependent on the quality of its servo architecture, which is why Moondrop has selected the best possible components. The motor ensures a perfectly stable rotation speed, the laser read head has excellent tracking and the CD player is equipped with a buffer memory and a physical damping system to limit the impact of the player's vibrations on the final rendering.
Moondrop Discdream 2: Cirrus Logic DAC chip
In a digital player such as a CD player, the quality of the rendering is largely dependent on the quality of the digital/analogue conversion. That's why the Discdream 2 incorporates a CS43131 chip from Cirrus Logic, ensuring crystal-clear playback with impeccable fidelity.
Moondrop Discdream 2: Headphone output
The Discdream 2 has a 3.5mm headphone output. This interface provides an output power of 2Vrms/124mW under a 32Ω load. It can easily drive most earphones as well as low impedance headphones.
Moondrop Discdream 2: Multi-function 3.5 mm jack line output
Furthermore, the Discdream 2 has a 3.5 mm jack line output that can also be used as an optical output, offering great flexibility of use. You can, for example, use this output purely as an analogue output and connect an external power amplifier to it to drive the most demanding headphones, but you can also use this output digitally to connect a DAC or similar.
Moondrop Discdream 2: Use as a DAC
Finally, in the spirit of flexibility, the Discdream 2 can also be connected to a PC for use as a DAC. In this configuration, it supports a signal up to PCM 32bit 384kHz and DSD256. It's also worth noting that no driver is required to use it, whether under Windows or Mac OS.
