The J.C Acoustics UDP-6PRO is a DAC and headphones amplifier based on audiophile components. It features an ES9039SPRO DAC chip and an XU216 XMOS USB interface for support of high-resolution sampling rates up to PCM 32bit 768kHz and DSD512. It also boasts a balanced Class AB headphone amplifier circuit with four TPA6120A2 chips for output power of up to 7500mW under 32 ohm on its balanced headphone output.

The device is completed by a high-performance power supply consisting of a 60VA transformer and no less than 6 filter capacitors. Each component is independently powered for low noise. The front panel features an attractive 3” color IPS display with a practical, modern interface. As for connectivity, the UDP-6PRO has plenty to offer, with numerous digital inputs, two headphone outputs (6.35mm jack/4.4mm jack) and two analog outputs (RCA/XLR).

The UDP-6PRO's digital-to-analog conversion is based on an ESS ES9039SPRO DAC chip and an XMOS XU216 USB interface. This enables it to support high-resolution sampling rates up to PCM 32bit 768kHz and DSD512. In addition, an SC8422 chip supports optical/coaxial SPDIF signal processing up to 24bit 192kHz.

The headphones amplifier stage features a balanced architecture with 4 OPA1642 and 4 TPA6120A2 amplifier chips for detailed, powerful sound reproduction. This configuration offers excellent dynamics and resolution across all frequencies. As a result, the UDP-6PRO's headphone outputs deliver substantial power, making it a headphone amplifier capable of driving high-end, high-impedance headphones.

In fact, it provides access to the various information concerning the current playback, as well as navigation between the device's different parameters.

J.C Acoustics UDP-6PRO: A low-noise power supply

The UDP-6PRO's power supply circuit is based on an optimised 60VA custom-made OFC copper transformer, six filter capacitors totalling almost 30,000µF and a regulated five-line power supply, allowing a stable and clean current to be delivered independently to each component of the unit. This enables the UDP-6PRO to achieve exceptional audio performance.
