BENCHMARK LA4 Balanced Preamplifier Silver

The Benchmark LA4 is a high-end, low-noise, low-distortion preamplifier. It incorporates relays for gain/volume control, mute functionality and input selection. Its amplification circuitry is entirely analog. Gain/volume control features 256 levels of 0.5dB each, for a high level of precision. In all, no less than 40 gold-contact relays are used to switch resistor networks and ensure the LA4 preamplifier's operation. A remote control and touch-screen display provide easy access to the LA4's various settings. Connections include 2 balanced XLR and 2 RCA inputs, as well as a stereo RCA output and a stereo XLR output. There's also a bridged mono output on an XLR connector and two 3.5mm trigger 12V jack connectors. The LA4 is the perfect complement to the brand's AHB2 power amplifier.

The LA4 is specially designed for use with a high-end DAC and power amplifier. It can bridge the gap between a high-output DAC and a low-input power amplifier, and vice-versa.

The LA4 preamplifier boasts a bandwidth extending from 0.1hZ to over 500KHz. This ensures extremely precise sound reproduction, with clear, natural harmonics.

The L4A's front panel touchscreen provides easy access to settings such as balance control, input level offsets, input names, screen brightness and function lock. A volume control knob features a high-quality optical encoder and 256 volume levels with 0.5dB/step resolution. A remote control enhances the user experience. Also, an "audio dim" setting is accessible via the display, allowing you to instantly reduce the volume level by 20dB. This facilitates the transition between normal listening and background levels.
